Born in Santander in 1978, Gorka Mohamed is graduated in Art and Design from the Massana School in Barcelona and holds a Master in Fine Arts from Goldsmisths College in London (UK).
His painting presents a tension between the irrational and the fixed, organized structures, in a process of sculptural construction or assembly through pictorial language. The intention of the artist is to reflect the tension to which the contemporary individual is subjected "that is invaded by an environment more and more apathetic and annulling". Faced with this, the artist conceives his painting as "a process of investment of values, of absence of limits" and as "vital catalyst project".
He has exhibited regularly since 2006, both collectively and individually, in commercial galleries and art centres in Spain, United Kingdom, Germany and the United States. He has received several prizes and scholarships from various Spanish and English entities, and his work is part of public and private collections, such as the collections Pilar Citoler, Bragales, Coca Cola Foundation, Centenera Foundation or Patio Herreriano Museum of Valladolid, among others.
He currently lives and works in Madrid.
